Australia v England 5 ODI's
Warm up game tomorrow before First ODI on Sunday (which go Sunday-Friday-Sunday-Friday-Sunday) starting at 3.20am.
The lack of Stokes makes for a huge hole again. The team seems to all but pick itself. Hales, Roy, Root, Morgan, Bairstow, Buttler, Ali, Woakes, Willey, Rashid, Wood Given the woeful form of Roy in BBL, Bairstow could open with Billings coming in at 6. Either Ali or Rashid could be dropped for another seamer (Plunkett/Ball/Curran). |

I'd definitely try and get Billings in, Roys form is a worry. Plunkett would be my first seamer picked for a game in Australia. Willey, Hales, Billings, Root, Morgan, Bairstow, Buttler, Ali, Plunkett, Woakes, Rashid. Order should be flexible with Root not coming in until after the powerplay and Buttler coming in after we lose a wicket from 25+ overs. Personally I don't think Morgan is worth his place in the team but I can't see that changing in the series so I've left him in rather than having Roy open and everyone move down a slot. |

I have no idea what Aus ODI team is. I imagine Strarc and Cummins will get a rest. Does Smith play ODI's anymore?
Finch Warner Head? Smith? Stoinis Maxwell Mitch Marsh? Paine Zampa Behrendorff Hazelwood |

CA limited to 258-9 and a comfortable chase looks in progress with Eng 68-0 in the 13th over. Roy and Bairstow opening suggests naughty boy Hales is here to carry drinks. |

They must really hate Maxwell. He would walk into every other side in the world. Surely they must be mature enough to set differences aside and just pick the best available XI? That said, happy for Bear, he should have played a lot more international cricket. I've only seen Jhye and Tye in silly cricket. Have no strong opinion about either. |

They gave Renshaw an over too which Hales smacked for 21. He has only bowled 12 overs in his entire Limited Overs career (which admittedly is only 10 matches!!).

Comfortable 5 wicket win with all batsmen getting some useful time in the middle (notably Morgan). Only failure was Moeen!!

Noway Willey or Wood (Seriously???) should be picked above Plunkett. I'd rather play Willey though, Wood can stay benched. He is too inaccurate and too expensive.

It is a pretty obvious team:
Hales Roy (give him a match at least) Root Morgan Bairstow Buttler Ali Rashid Woakes Willey Plunkett Stokes is actually a genuine miss in the ODI side as opposed to tests but Woakes had been in some good form, with Plunkett and Rashid being world class performers for long periods of time. Billings could play at some stage in this series, I hope Malan gets a go too. The Oz side is not as settled and simply not as good, although playing in Australia may dent what confident is left in the England team .

The absence of Stokes does mean the selectors don't necessarily have to pick 2 from YJB, Hales and Roy yet. However, I think YJB is nailed on to open the batting. On the bowling front I think Wood and Curran are both ahead of Willey in Australian conditions.

Nice to see Rashid stick two fingers up to the test selectors and bag three wickets .
