I didn't realise they were playing so many T20s.

Could've skipped some of the ODIs. A late finish, much like the Australia tour to South Africa.

What's the weather like in April in Christchurch!?

Yeah I think a 3 match ODI series would have been fine, it's been a while since we've had a 3 team contest and England don't actually play many T20 games so that'll be something different.

T20 cricket should never be played at the international level, other than WT20 or Olympics. ODI cricket is the perfect white ball format for international level. Why oh why England will be playing so many T20Is is beyond me.

It’s the most popular form of cricket with the spectators, it’s that simple.

They should use this popularity to drive the growth of domestic cricket, rather than kill the golden goose. ODI cricket is also incredibly popular with the fans, and becuase it lasts 8 hours, they can monetize it better. It's harder to sell 50-over cricket at the domestic level, so T20 should be used to sell the domestic game.

Man! Why couldn't they just do an ODI tri series? Are they dead and buried now?

Still no leach. Lucky our spin bowlers did so well in Australia. The one with better figures was dreadful and the other broke all sorts of records. Jock will be thrilled that Moeen stays.

16 players for 2 tests ? 15 including Stokes.

Dropped are Curran (2 tests in Oz),Ball who played one test and Ballance who played zero.

Failures who played all 5 get a reprieve - safe, comfortable, cliquey.

"It does seem remarkable that despite their repeated collective failure in the Ashes, England's top and middle order are set to remain unchanged"

@Aggerscricket on the NZ Test squad.

I see Whitaker said Wood is fit now. Surely he would have been fit for the 5th Test. Where is Roland-Jones?

12 limited overs games, and only 2 tests? Surely you could scrap some of those games and put a third test in there? that's shocking.

I assume he needs to prove his fitness in the Lions. Crap squad again.

it does all seem a bit half-hearted - a return to the old tradition of a couple of Tests in NZ as a holiday for the players after the rigours of Oz.

Given Stokes is doubtful there is a space up for grabs - no doubt from the Lions

Heard Nasser questioning why bowlers get dropped after one or two Tests (Ball and Curran) yet batsmen get more than 5. Seems strange.

Bowlers only get 4 hit for a mistake . Batsmen only get 2 per test.

Also the captain is a batsman.

I guess they look at Malan and think we gave him chances.

I'm frankly appalled that pretty much the same squad bar Livingstone for Ballance and the introduction of Wood has been chosen. Do they need to get beaten 2-0 in NZ to finally decide to rip up much of the core?
