Random ODI series thread
Pakistan touring SA, kicking off with three ODIs.
Pretty dire start by the hosts as their top order lamely concede their wickets against a disciplined but so far not overly threatening Pakistan pace attack. Like watching England in the Peter Moores/Andy Flower era. 52/3 after 13.

I always find it odd that both teams kits are almost identical.

Strange sight in cricket...
Although I think home and away kits should come in for limited over games (domestic and international).

Not sure I've seen a leg slip in ODIs since forever.

Babar's century about as good as you'll see.

Pakistan did their best to lose that, eventually winning by three wickets off the last ball. Nortje's second burst was impressive though, taking four wickets with some hostile mid-90s, short pitched bowling.

Switched over to watch the test match when Babar got out and Pakistan well on top. Just caught the final ball of the match and it was a tight one. Pakistan trying to out-choke the top chokers.

All contrived to make it an exciting climax, although I nearly gave up the will to live with the concussion check 3 balls left, which followed on from the dismissal and reviewed dismissal that was a full toss no ball in the previous over. With all the fielding changes, the last two overs took about twenty minutes. It's getting as bad as NBA and NFL, which grind to a halt at the end of close matches.

Pakistan almost threw it away, they must be grateful for the Saffers dropping 2 catches and 2 missfields for 4.

Too much to do for Pakistan now.
Very little chance of them winning this half way through their innings. |

Fakhar Zaman has made it interesting. He's basically been taking on SA on his own practically for the whole innings. Still a tough ask though.

Looks like there's been a debate over whether QdK was applying a bit of gamesmanship involving the run out of Fakhar. The keeper was pointing towards the bowling end as if to suggest the throw goes there causing Fakhar to slow down while the ball was already been thrown to his end.
It seems no action has been taken in relation to the alleged fake fielding and even Fakhar said he was concentrating more on his partner getting home. |

The ICC have left it to the umpires to decide. To me, a bit like Mankading - yes, it's a bit disingenuous by the fielding side but the batter has to have their head screwed on too.

I struggle to see the big deal with this. The batsman could have easily got in his ground. It isn’t like “fake fielding either”.
I don’t have any truck with the bleeding hearts who whine about mankads.

Strange series so far, 2 close matches that the winning side should have won easily.

I agree. Batsmen should be looking at their partners and where the ball is when they go for a run, not looking for cues from the opposition fielders.

For me the question is if QdK doesn't do it, would he still be run out? I'd also like to ask what QdK thought he was going to achieve by doing it. It was *****ousery of a decent level which didn't affect the result. Not sure I'd want to see it happen again.
